US: Wall St opens higher, China stimulus boosts miners


Wall Street’s main indexes opened slightly higher on Tuesday (Sep 24), as investors scoured for clues on what the Federal Reserve’s next policy move might be, while commodity stocks got a boost after China unveiled a bumper stimulus package.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 110.3 points, or 0.26 per cent, at the open to 42,234.99. The S&P 500 rose 9.1 points, or 0.16 per cent, at the open to 5,727.66​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 72.2 points, or 0.40 per cent, to 18,046.442 at the opening bell. REUTERS
