A man was arrested for allegedly throwing a toddler across a room and hitting the child’s aunt in an attack he carried out with two other women in a Tennessee apartment.
Police arrived at the residence and found the aunt and the 2-year-old child, along with two other adult victims. All three adults had visible cuts and bruises. The male suspect, named Jyrin Anthony Neal, 25, is facing charges for the incident.
The incident took place on Nov. 18 when a woman named Amber Jamison, 19, visited the apartment on River Trace Drive in Memphis. When she was asked to leave because of her behavior, Jamison threatened to call people and beat up the adults in the apartment, WREG reported.
Jamison walked out of the apartment and made a phone call. She told someone over the phone that she was jumped by the three adults in the apartment. Jamison then appeared at the front door of the apartment with Neal and another unidentified female.
“Armed with a gun and a sledgehammer,” the three of them kicked in the front door and launched an attack on the adults inside the house, the outlet reported.
Neal pistol-whipped two of the adults in the residence before finding the child’s aunt hiding inside a closet with the two-year-old boy. The man is accused of grabbing the child and throwing him across the room.
The aunt later told cops that Neal grabbed her by her hair and struck her with his fist and the gun. The unknown female suspect then jumped in on the attack, the victim said.
“I thought you could fight,” Jamison allegedly yelled at the victim during this time.
Neal then picked up the toddler and threw him across the room again. He also told Jamison to take whatever she wanted from the apartment, CBS 42 reported.
The three assailants took $650 and fled. Police arrived and found the three adult victims with cuts and bruises.
Neal was arrested and is facing three charges of aggravated assault, three charges of aggravated kidnapping, and child abuse and neglect, among others. He was being held on a $75,000 bond.
One report described the child’s aunt as the owner of the apartment.
Residents in the apartment complex said the altercation began several days before it escalated to the attack on Nov. 18. Police were on the lookout for Jamison in connection with the attack. It is unclear whether she was arrested.
