- Nintendo Direct also held a Direct presentation in August
Japanese gaming giant Nintendo officially confirmed the long-rumored September Direct event is actually happening, revealing the event will focus on “games launching this Winter.”
A new Nintendo Direct is scheduled to take place Tuesday, at 10 a.m. ET, according to a new tweet from the Japanese gaming giant. The showcase will run for roughly 40 minutes and will center on upcoming titles set to release sometime in the Winter of 2022.
“Tune in at 7 a.m. PT tomorrow, 9/13, for a #NintendoDirect livestream featuring roughly 40 minutes of information mostly focused on #NintendoSwitch games launching this winter,” the announcement read.
However, as a sign of respect for the period of mourning in the U.K. for the passing of Queen Elizabeth ll, Nintendo said the Direct event will not be livestreamed in the region and instead will be available on demand from 4 p.m. U.K. time on YouTube.
While Nintendo did not reveal the name of the games that will be featured at the September Direct, earlier rumors suggested two of them would be from the popular game franchise “TheLegend of Zelda.”
Earlier this year, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb said in a podcast that these two titles would fill the hole left by the absence of “Breath of The Wild 2,” which is not yet launching this year.
“If they’re going to have Zelda stuff there, this is not a Partner Direct, and those are the things that we’ve been hearing. The specifics that were name-dropped were Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD ports to the Switch,” Grubb said in the podcast.
Meanwhile, GamesBeat managing editor Mike Minotti later noted, “To be clear, guys, the one thing we are very, very sure is being announced at this Direct are the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for Switch.”
Aside from those two, an industry insider who goes by the name The Snitch teased that “Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse” would make an appearance in the showcase, the game which was previously released exclusively in Japan for Wii.
Last month, Nintendo held a Direct presentation, which centered on “Splatoon 3.”
