- Frank Vogel has been spotted at the Dallas Mavericks’ team practice
- The Mavericks could add Vogel to the coaching staff, reuniting him with Jason Kidd and Jared Dudley
- The Boston Celtics could be a sensible landing spot for Vogel with Ime Udoka serving his suspension
Until now, little has been heard on what is up ahead for former Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel.
Regardless, the one-time NBA champion coach was spotted at Dallas Mavericks’ team practice and such has led to speculations he may be reuniting with Jason Kidd and Jared Dudley.
The 49-year-old coach was seen observing the practice of the Mavericks alongside Nico Harrison.
Aside from that, he was caught having a chat with Tyson Chandler as well.
Vogel parted ways with the Lakers back in April after a disastrous 2021-22 NBA season. He has since been replaced by Darvin Ham.
It will be recalled that when they were with the Lakers, current Mavs head coach Jason Kidd was part of the coaching staff of Los Angeles in 2020, the year that the franchise won their last NBA title.
Dudley was also a member of the Lakers squad that won the 2020 NBA title win, suting up as a player.
Now, Dudley is serving as one of the deputies for Kidd with the Mavs.
There remains no official word on why Vogel was at practice. He could be just visiting or possibly asking for his comments on the progress of the ball club.
The Mavs have not issued any official statement on any potential role for Vogel as of this writing.
Hence, Vogel remains unemployed at the moment although the two-time NBA All-Star coach carries the necessary experience to help any team in the league.
One team that has been linked to Vogel is the Boston Celtics.
Boston, a ballclub that recently suspended their current head coach Ime Udoka, may reportedly try to add Vogel to the Celtics coaching staff according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.
Joe Mazzulla will be coaching the Celtics this coming NBA season in an interim capacity as Udoka serves his suspension.
But if Mazzulla somehow shows he can steer the team to a better performance, the future of the 45-year-old coach could be in peril.
It is also worth noting that Vogel has ties with Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.
Similar to the case of the Mavericks, the Celtics have yet to issue anything official about possibly adding Vogel to their coaching brain thrust.
