A wealthy software developer is in the news for spending millions of dollars each year to grow younger, well almost. While there is no such thing as an elixir for eternal youth, Bryan Johnson, 45, has a rather extensive regimen and an army of health experts and doctors working to make him feel younger than his actual age. And it’s costing him a whopping $2 million just this year alone.
Johnson, a Utah native, made a fortune by selling his payment processing company Braintree Payments to eBay’s Paypal in 2013, $800 million all-cash to be precise, NYPost reported.
All that money and incoming cash flow from other business ventures gave Johnson the luxury to maintain a routine that helped him achieve the heart of a 37-year-old, the skin age of 27, and the fitness level of a teenager.
Johnson’s ultimate goal is to have his body parts including but not limited to his brain, liver, penis, hair and rectum function like that of a person in their late teens.
The entrepreneur detailed his extreme routine in a recent interview with Bloomberg News. For starters, he has a team of 30 doctors and health experts who are helping him achieve his goal of complete body regeneration.
Johnson and the doctor leading this program read the scientific literature on aging and longevity and are now on a path to reverse aging in all of the former’s body parts.
This is no cheap program and millions of dollars have been invested in its setup, which includes a medical suite at Johnson’s California home. Johnson has attracted criticism from certain quarters which he expected and is fine with.
Johnson follows strict guidelines for his everyday life which include sticking to a 1,977-calorie vegan diet, an hour of exercise, and HIIT three times a week. He goes to sleep at the same time every day after wearing blue light-blocking glasses for two hours.
To achieve his ideal body goals, Johnson endures some painful medical procedures like additional blood reports, MRIs, and colonoscopies, every single month.
All that work has been paying off, as doctors confirm that his health markers have improved remarkably.
The experiments are going on for a year, and Johnson and his team have collectively called it Project Blueprint. Its website states Johnson has reversed his epigenetic age by 5.1 years, slowed down his aging process by 24%, and his body temperature is down by 3°F.
Johnson also appears ripped on the outside and has achieved a body fat percentage that fluctuates between 5% to 6%. “What I do may sound extreme, but I’m trying to prove that self-harm and decay are not inevitable,” he said.
