KEY POINTS

  • Rashford has started in just one game for England in 2022 World Cup
  • England will take on France in quarter-final on Saturday
  • Rashford has scored three goals in the tournament

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could contact Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window.

Rashford’s current contract with Manchester United is due to expire at the end of this season. If the forward fails to agree to an extension with his boyhood club, the English forward will be free to sign a pre-season contract with any club.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said the club would contact Rashford directly if he become available for free by the time the winter window opens on Jan. 1. Al-Khelaifi also admitted that PSG had contacted Manchester United once in the past for Rashford, but nothing materialized at the time.

“He’s another player who’s amazing and for free? To have Rashford for free, every club will run after him. Definitely, we’re not hiding it. We spoke before, the moment was not a good moment for both sides. Maybe [in the summer] summer, why not? If he’s a free agent of course we can talk to him directly but we’re not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup and then after, in January, if we’re interested we’ll talk to him,” Al-Khelaifi said.

Rashford is currently playing in the World Cup with England. The 25-year-old winger has netted three goals for Gareth Southgate’s side but has started in just one out of their four games.

Rashford has also been in great form with Manchester United, scoring eight goals and three assists in 19 appearances. The Red Devils were fifth in the Premier League table when the season was paused for the World Cup in November.

Though Rashford’s market value has taken a dip, he is still valued at around $56 million, thanks to his recent performances.

England have a massive match coming up as they are set to face off against reigning champions France in the quarter-final on Saturday.

Rashford, who made his international debut in 2016, has so far scored 15 goals and five assists in 50 competitive matches for England’s senior side.

Earlier, Harry Maguire, Rashford’s Manchester United captain and England teammate, said the Three Lions “really believe” that they can win the World Cup this time, which would be their second world title after 1966.
