Police in North Carolina identified a 17-year-old as a suspect in the murder of two teenagers. The suspect has yet to be apprehended.
Devin Clark, 18, and Lyric Woods, 14, were found dead with gunshot wounds Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
“Through the hard work of my investigators, along with the assistance of personnel from many other law enforcement agencies, we have identified a suspect in this case,” Sheriff Charles Blackwood said in a press release.
“We will now work with local, state, and federal authorities to apprehend and present the suspect to the court system,” Blackwood added.
Clark’s mother said in a Facebook live video on Tuesday that she just wants justice and to know why the two teens were murdered.
The North Carolina Juvenile Justice Act states that 16 and 17-year-olds who commit crimes are not automatically charged as adults.
The Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention filed a juvenile petition Tuesday for two counts of first-degree murder.
“We are not resting until he is in our custody in Orange County. Until then, our heads are down, and we are working toward that end,” Blackwood added.
