Boyfriend Stabs Girlfriend To Death For Trying To Breakup With Him

A Massachusetts man allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death after she tried to end their relationship.

The accused boyfriend, Angel T. Alvarez, 65, turned himself in and is facing charges in connection with the murder.

Margarita Morehead, 59, of Chelsea, was found with multiple stab wounds at her Lafayette Avenue address Monday. Alvarez is accused of stabbing her with a kitchen knife before fleeing the scene.

Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report about a disturbance inside a first-floor apartment at around 10 a.m., according to WCVB.

Responding officers found Morehead in a pool of blood and was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead.

Meanwhile, Alvarez bought a new cellphone and threw his blood-spattered clothes away. He then turned himself in and admitted to Chelsea police officers that he stabbed his girlfriend to death. The boyfriend also admitted to punching his girlfriend multiple times.

Assistant District Attorney Erin Murphy said Alvarez stabbed the slain girlfriend multiple times in her upper torso because she tried to end their relationship.

“Instead of dealing with the reality of an ended relationship with restraint and dignity, this man chose a shocking act of violence that ended Margarita Morehead’s life and ushered in eternal grief for her family, friends and relatives,” District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.

Investigators learned that the couple was still in a relationship despite an active restraining order in place.

Morehead reportedly made official complaints about Alvarez in the past. Alvarez “calls me 24/7. It has been more than two weeks that it does not let me sleep,” she said in a handwritten affidavit.

“He uses hurtful words that hurt my heart, and says vulgar things,” she added.

Following the discovery of Morehead’s body, investigators searched the area around the apartment building as well as Alvarez’s car, which had brown stains that appeared to be blood.

Alvarez was arraigned on a charge of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and is scheduled to appear in court on June 12.

Neighbors said they were shocked to hear about the incident. They were also asked by investigators if they had surveillance footage that could help with the investigation.

“I’m nervous, I was afraid when I first heard it. I’ll probably be more afraid when I’m up there alone in my apartment but I’ll keep in touch with my family so it will be OK,” a neighbor named Pamela Rivera said, while another named Joanne Brosseau added, “It’s strange because this is a quiet street, this is usually very quiet. Everybody minds their own business but it’s scary though.”
