Authorities are investigating a violent shuttle bus crash Saturday in Massachusetts that involved Brandeis University students.
One student was killed and the driver was hospitalized after the shuttle crashed in the town of Waltham. Twenty-six other students were injured.
The bus was transporting 27 Brandeis students from a hockey game at Northeastern University when it crashed into a tree at around 10:32 p.m., according to a joint statement released by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Chief of Police Kevin O’Connell.

“One student was pronounced dead on the scene. The remaining 26 students and the bus driver sustained injuries of varying degrees and were all transported to area hospitals,” Ryan and O’Connell said in their statement. “No identities are being released at this time. No charges have been filed.”
A witness told Boston CBS affiliate WBZ4 that the bus hit multiple trees, and that he heard screams afterward.
Weston Fire Chief Justin Woodside also initially reported that the bus had rolled over multiple times.
Waltham is located about 13 miles east of Boston.
