The Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers are coming off wins and will look for another when they face off on Sunday, Jan. 22, at the American Airlines Center.
The Mavericks are coming off a convincing 115-90 win over the Miami Heat with Luka Doncic unsurprisingly leading the way with 34 points and 12 rebounds.
Spencer Dinwiddie Reggie Bullocks backed up Doncic with 19 and 15 points respectively.
“It wasn’t me calling them out or saying we had a walkthrough, shootaround during the game against Atlanta,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said. “I just think you could see they were flying around. So now we’ve got to hold them to that standard.”
The Mavericks are scoring 112.9 points per game, 17 in the NBA at the moment. They also own an offensive rating of 115.2 which is 5th in the league.
Defensively, Dallas is limiting opponents to 112.2 points per game, 10th in the league. They also carry a defensive rating of 114.7 which is 25th in the NBA.
Meanwhile, the Clippers are getting a lift with the returns of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
In that win over the Spurs, Leonard led the way with 36 points, seven assists and four rebounds. George chipped in 16 markers and 12 assists as the Clips turned back the Spurs.
“I felt it this morning,” Lue said. “I think having our guys back and everyone going back to their natural roles helps us out a lot. With Kawhi and PG (Paul George) on the floor, we play at a high level.”
Los Angeles is averaging 109.2 points per game, 29th in the league. The Clips own an offensive rating of 110.9, 26th in the NBA.
On the defensive end, the Clippers are allowing the opposition to score 110.8 points per outing which is fifth in the NBA right now. They hold a defensive rating of 112.1, 10th in the league.
In their regular season series matchup, the Mavericks won the first game 103-101 back in November. The Clippers bounced back with a 113-101 victory a couple of weeks ago this January.
The Mavericks have been installed as -1.5 favorites to prevail over the Clippers who are at +1.5. The Moneyline for this clash is -120 for Dallas and +105 for Los Angeles.
