Drew Barrymore got candid about her co-parenting arrangement with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman.

On Thursday’s episode of her talk show, “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the 47-year-old Hollywood star spoke about her relationship with her 44-year-old ex-husband and how they navigate co-parenting.

“I am co-parenting with someone. And although we might not be married anymore, and he’s even married to his beautiful new wife Allie [Michler], our wonderful step-mother, we’re in a daily engagement and our relationship has never been better,” Barrymore told her guest Kate Hudson, as quoted by Page Six.

Barrymore and Kopelman tied the knot in 2012. During their marriage, they were blessed with two kids, Olive, 10, and Frankie, 8. However, they split in 2016 and finalized their divorce just two months after announcing their breakup, as per People.

Kopelman went on to remarry in 2021. Along the way, Barrymore forged a friendship with her ex and his wife. The actress said there’s nothing wrong with celebrating one’s ex-partners.

“We should champion our exes, and you don’t have to be best friends, especially if they have a new person in their life,” she said before noting that exes should also act appropriately and don’t make their ex’s new partner feel “uncomfortable.”

Hudson agreed with Barrymore’s insights. She said it’s important to foster good relationships with one’s exes. The “Glass Onion” star even said that people will find a different kind of love for their exes eventually.

“I think love changes form. You don’t just stop loving someone. Even in relationships where things can go really south, I believe there’s always a way back to finding a place where you can have compassion and still feel that love, just differently,” Hudson said.

During the episode, the host and the guest star also decided to prank call Barrymore’s ex-boyfriend Luke Wilson, the brother of Hudson’s ex, Owen Wilson. However, they accidentally dialed the wrong person.

When the two phoned the person they thought was Luke, they were taken aback upon learning that they had called a Lucas Wilson instead. Interestingly, the man revealed that he had appeared in Barrymore’s 1999 rom-com “Never Been Kissed,” Entertainment Weekly reported.
