Dwayne Johnson Shares ‘Black Adam 2’ Fate In DC Universe

Dwayne Johnson shared an update regarding the “Black Adam” sequel, noting that it is not in the works but Black Adam’s character might appear in the DC multiverse.

The 50-year-old actor wrote a note Tuesday on Twitter to address his “passionate” fans with a “long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe.”

“James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling,” Johnson wrote. “However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”

Gunn, who is popular for directing the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie series for Marvel Studios and “The Suicide Squad” for DC, and Johnson have known each other for years, the latter said adding that they have always “rooted” for each other’s success.

The actor further mentioned that he is not just rooting for DC Universe’s success but also Marvel’s success.

“You guys know me, and I have very thick skin – and you can always count on me to be direct with my words,” he added. “These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens.”

Johnson also mentioned that “Black Adam” was a result of his relentless hard work over 15 years and he is “very proud of the film” that he delivered to his fans worldwide.

“I will always look back on the fan reaction to Black Adam with tremendous gratitude, humility and love. We did great,” he said. “To my very passionate and vocal Black Adam/Super Hero genre fans – I love you, THANK YOU.”

By the end of the update, Johnson promised that he will “always listen” to his fans and do his best to entertain them.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, “Black Adam” was released on Oct. 21. According to multiple sources, the flick was made on a $195 million budget (excluding distribution and promotion costs) and earned $400 million worldwide.

Gunn, who was hired as a co-CEO and co-chairman of DC Studios, is currently working on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” for Marvel, which is slated to release on May 5, 2023. Johnson, on the other hand, will be next seen in the movies like “The King,” “Doc Savage” and “Big Trouble in Little China.”
