Twitter CEO Elon Musk said Apple on Monday threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store.
“Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but won’t tell us why,” Musk said.
Musk’s tweet came following a thread of other tweets in which he claimed Apple imposes a hidden 30% tax and has taken part in multiple censorship actions that affect its customers.
“Apple should publish all censorship actions it has taken that affect its customers,” Musk said in a Twitter poll Monday.
Musk also called out Apple for recently stopping its advertising on Twitter and questioned if the company hates “free speech in America.”
He then directly called out Apple CEO Tim Cook. “What’s going on here @tim_cook” Musk posted.
In October, Musk stated that his main goal in acquiring Twitter was to encourage free speech.
“The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,” Musk said in the Twitter post.
“I didn’t do it to make money,” he said of the pending acquisition. “I did it to try to help humanity, whom I love.”
