Several states are expected to see severe storms this week that could possibly bring strong winds and tornadoes.
“A significant severe-weather event will be likely across parts of the region,” according to the Storm Prediction Center.
The severe storms have the threat of strong tornadoes, wind damage, and some hail. Meteorologists expect the storm event to begin on Tuesday and last into the evening and overnight hours.

“A few of the strongest storms will carry the potential to produce a tornado,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said.
The event is expected to affect Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi, and reach big cities like Houston, Nashville, New Orleans, St. Louis, Baton Rouge, Little Rock and Memphis, the storm prediction center said.
Northern states like Illinois, Indiana and Ohio could also be impacted by the severe weather.
The lower Mississippi River Valley faces the biggest tornado threat.
“The details regarding areas most at risk from tornadoes will become clearer as Tuesday approaches and smaller-scale trends become more evident,” Bill Bunting, chief of forecast operations at the Storm Prediction Center, told CNN Weather.
