AI companies bet big on the Super Bowl with ads with efforts that focused on ease, affordability, and AI anxieties.
A 30-second Super Bowl ad costs around $8 million, but that can rise to $10 million for a premium slot, according to NFL Playoff Pass. Add in celebrity appearances and extended versions for YouTube and the cost of these productions are a hefty investment.
Anthropic (Claude) Technology
Anthropic’s add, “Can I get a six pack quickly?”, combined humor and practicality to make AI seem less threatening and more accessible. A young man fails to do a pull-up and turns to AI to help him get the six-pack he desires.
Meta/Oakley
Meta and Oakley teamed up to deliver the ad “Athletic Intelligence is here.” The ad is an extreme sports montage featuring Spike Lee and Marshawn Lynch.
Amazon Alexa+
Amazon Alexa+ used Chris Hemsworth to argue that AI can be a positive part of your life while not trying kill you.
OpenAI
OpenAI’s “You Can Just Build Things” tried for a more awe-inspiring approach with its montage. The ad basically says to the viewer, look how amazing AI is!
Wix Harmony
Wix Harmony’s AI ad “The New Way to Create” was a fairly straightforward presentation of how easy it is to do stuff with AI.
Artlist
Artlist’s Super Bowl ad used iconic characters from other ads (the Coke polar bear, Budweiser Clydesdales) to demonstrate its products’ ease of use and affordability.
