A judge on Wednesday called on former President Donald Trump‘s Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, to testify before a special grand jury in Georgia in the 2020 election meddling case.
The investigation into election interference in Georgia is being led by Fani T. Willis, Fulton County district attorney.
Meadows, 63, was not present at the hearing Wednesday in Pickens, South Carolina. He has also so far resisted summons to testify before the committee.
His lawyer, James Bannister, said they would appeal the Wednesday order. In a court filing this week, Bannister argued his client had executive privileges and other rights that shield him from testifying.
Bannister has utilized a similar strategy with three of his other clients who were summoned by the Georgia grand jury but did not show up.
In a separate inquiry, Meadows failed to appear before the January 6 committee last year.
