[SINGAPORE] Mapletree Investments has expanded its logistics presence in Europe with the acquisition of a 34,852 square metre facility in the Netherlands, the company said on Tuesday (Dec 23).
The warehouse is located in Roosendaal, West-Brabant, and is situated within Business Park Borchwerf I, one of the Netherlands’ logistics hubs.
Mapletree did not specify the price of the acquisition.
The property “strengthens the group’s presence in the European Megalopolis”, a primary distribution corridor that supports international trade through Benelux ports.
The facility offers direct access to motorways and connectivity to major cities, inland terminals, harbours and airports, the group said.
Ralph van der Beek, Mapletree’s chief executive officer for commercial and logistics in Europe, described the Dutch logistics sector as a “resilient market” supported by strong fundamentals, driven by the continued growth of e-commerce and ongoing supply chain optimisation.
“Our latest acquisition is aligned with the group’s strategy to sharpen its focus on logistics as a core sector and deepen its European logistics footprint through assets offering strong infrastructure connectivity and customer-centric spaces that are critical to our tenants’ operations,” said van der Beek.
He added that the group intends to actively pursue similar investment and development opportunities, with a particular focus on Western Europe and the United Kingdom, to deliver “long-term, sustainable value” to its stakeholders.
This acquisition adds to Mapletree’s growing portfolio in the region. Since entering the European logistics market in 2018, the group has amassed 82 logistics assets across eight countries. These assets account for 1.6 billion euros (S$2.4 billion) in assets under management.
Earlier this year, Mapletree acquired two logistics assets in the UK – Derby DC1 and Verda Park – as well as a portfolio of 10 warehouses in Spain, diversified across Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid.
The Singapore-headquartered group also owns and manages office, mixed-use and student housing properties in Europe and the UK. As at Mar 31, 2025, Mapletree’s total European and UK assets were valued at about S$7.8 billion.
