Since the latest Mega Millions grand prize went unclaimed, the jackpot will grow to $116 million with a cash value of $65.6 million. The next jackpot drawing will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
Following the Friday night drawing, a player from Iowa hit the Match 5, winning $1 million. If the player had hit the Match 5 and the Megaplier, they would have won $4 million.
There were 14 players who hit the Match 4 plus gold Mega Ball and won $10,000 each. Meanwhile, three players hit the Match 4 plus gold Mega Ball with the Megaplier, winning $40,000 apiece.
The remaining Mega Millions wins from the night ranged between $2 and $2,000.
The latest jackpot comes as a $1 million winning ticket is set to expire in New York City next month. The winning ticket was purchased at the Broadway Newsstand in Inwood for the Sept. 28, 2021 drawing.
The ticket matched all five white balls but missed the gold Mega Ball. At the time, the winning numbers were 18, 30, 43, 68, 69. The player has until Sept. 28, 2022, to claim their prize.
Mega Millions jackpot winners can receive their grand prize winnings through a one-time lump sum payment or an annuity.
Those who opt for the annuity receive one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
Mega Millions can be played in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
