Mega Millions Jackpot Grows To $325 Million Following Friday’s Drawing

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown after the Friday night lottery drawing yielded no winners for the $301 million grand prize, with a cash value of $159.6 million. However, there were plenty of smaller monetary prizes that resulted from the latest drawing.

The winning Mega Millions numbers drawn on Friday, Sept. 23, were 5, 50, 53, 58, 64, with a gold Mega Ball of 22. The Megaplier was 4X.

Since the jackpot went unclaimed, it will grow to $325 million, with a cash option of $172.4 million. The next jackpot drawing will take place Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Although there were no grand prize lottery winners from the Friday night drawing, one ticketholder managed to become an instant millionaire.

A player in Texas hit the Match 5 with a Megaplier purchase, winning $4 million. If the ticketholder would have played without the Megaplier, they would have won a lesser prize of $1 million.

Sixteen players hit the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball, winning $10,000 apiece. Meanwhile, only two players managed to snag $40,000 each by hitting the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball with the Megaplier.

The rest of the wins from the night ranged between $2 and $2,000.

The latest lottery drawing comes after a player from Illinois claimed the $1.34 billion jackpot. The prize was shared by a partnership, which vowed to split the money if won.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Speedway in Des Plaines, and the winner chose to remain anonymous. Lottery players who win prizes worth $250,000 or greater can remain anonymous in Illinois.

Mega Millions jackpot winners can receive their grand prize winnings through a one-time lump sum payment or an annuity.

Those who opt for the annuity receive one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.

Mega Millions can be played in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
