New Movies To Watch In 2023

Movie studios are certainly bouncing back from pandemic delays and shutdowns. This new year, several exciting releases await avid theatergoers.

Here is a list of new theatrical releases to watch out for, including horror, comedy, and suspense films.

“M3gan”

When her niece Cady is orphaned, roboticist Gemma (Allison Williams) programs an android doll called Model 3 Generative Android or M3gan to help the child cope with the tragedy of losing her parents. However, the robotic doll develops a life of its own, and becomes possessive of Cady. M3gan then starts killing people whom it perceives as a threat to Cady.

The film is made by “Annabelle” and “Malignant” producer James Wan, and is set to hit theaters on Jan. 6.

“Knock at the Cabin”

This is the latest psychological horror from director M. Night Shyamalan, which follows the story of a family, who is taken hostage while spending a vacation at a cabin in the woods. The hostage-takers tell the family they were chosen as a sacrifice to prevent an apocalypse. The movie stars Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff and Rupert Grint, and is based on the book “The Cabin at the End of the World” written by Paul G. Tremblay.

“Knock at the Cabin” will hit theaters on Feb. 3.

“Magic Mike’s Last Dance”

“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” is the third installment to the Warner Bros. trilogy starring Channing Tatum as a male stripper who, having been in the business for a good number of years, is now persuaded by a woman – Salma Hayek to hold a show in the London Theater. The movie is helmed by Steven Soderbergh and is described by Tatum as the “Super Bowl of stripping.”

“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” will be released in theaters on Feb. 10.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”

Marvel’s third installment to its “Ant-Man” franchise sees Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and his Ant-Family getting trapped inside the Quantum Realm after Scott’s daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) developed a device that sends a signal down into the Quantum Realm. In it, the family is forced to face hostilities from Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Kang). The movie also stars Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer and will be released on Feb. 17.

“Cocaine Bear”

This movie was inspired by a bear that finds and eats smuggled cocaine in the 1980s. The bear died in the real story, but in the movie, the unlucky animal goes on a rampage in a town in Georgia after ingesting huge amounts of cocaine. Town residents and tourists band together to survive the violent attacks of the American black bear. The movie stars Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr, Alden Ehrenreich, and Ray Liotta.
