Ohio-based Bob Evans Farms Foods, Inc. on Friday recalled approximately 7,560 pounds of Italian pork sausage products due to pieces of rubber found in meat.
The problem was discovered after the Food Safety and Inspection Service received consumer complaints reporting the product’s thin pieces of blue rubber. The raw sausage items were shipped across the country on Sept. 28.

The specific label is: 1-lb. chubs containing “Bob Evans Italian Sausage” with lot code XEN3663466 and a “USE/FRZ BY” date of 11/26/22, with a time stamp between 14:43 and 15:25.
FSIS
The USDA has not yet received any reports of adverse reactions from consuming the meat. The FSIS has indicated that the risk to consumers is low. Buyers of the product should throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased.
In other food safety news, Costco on Thursday recalled its Kirkland brand-name roasted pine nut hummus due to mold issues. The hummus has a best-by date before Nov. 26, 2022. Costco said the returned products to the store will get a full refund.
“We have identified some mold issues on the pine nut topping on one code date on this item,” Costco said in a letter signed by Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods.
The hummus was sold between Sept. 21 to Oct. 18.
