Qantas’ full-year profit falls 14%

AUSTRALIA’S Qantas Airways reported a 13.8 per cent drop in its full-year pre-tax underlying profit on Thursday (Aug 27), hurt by surging jet fuel prices due to the Middle East conflict that outweighed gains from higher fares.

The country’s flag carrier reported underlying profit before tax of A$2.06 billion (US$1.48 billion) for the year ended Jun 30, compared with A$2.39 billion reported a year ago.

That slightly beat the Visible Alpha consensus estimate of A$2 billion. REUTERS
