Tech, real estate sectors in Asian markets to see immediate gains on first Fed rate cut in four years

But the longer-term impact of rate cuts on markets might be minimal given uncertainties around the health of the US economy

SECTORS in the Asian equity markets which are sensitive to interest rates, such as technology and real estate, will see immediate benefits from rate cuts, said analysts after the US Federal Reserve on Wednesday (Sep 18) delivered its first rate cut in more than four years.

However, the longer-term impact of rate cuts on markets might be minimal given uncertainties around the health of the US economy, added analysts.

The Fed cut interest rates by half of a percentage point, or 50 basis points (bps), on Wednesday, bringing interest rates to within the range of 4.75 to 5 per cent.
