He has over three decades of international experience in spearheading large-scale transformations for businesses
NETWORK for Electronic Transfers (Nets) has appointed Lawrence Goh, UOB’s head of group technology and operations (GTO), to its board of directors effective Dec 23, 2024.
Goh succeeded UOB Vietnam’s senior advisor Eddie Khoo as UOB’s representative to Nets’ board. Khoo was also previously the bank’s head of group personal financial services.
On Thursday (Dec 26), Nets highlighted Goh as a seasoned technology leader with more than three decades of international experience in spearheading large-scale transformations for businesses.
The payment services provider noted that he played a “pivotal role in directing and influencing the bank’s digital technological transformation” during his earlier stints as UOB’s head of group infrastructure platform services, as well as chief operating officer for GTO.
Nets also credited him as a “significant contributor to enhancing service delivery and fostering customer centricity, both within the organisation (UOB) and in external interactions”.
Goh currently leads a team of more than 7,000 UOB staff across the region.
Beyond that, he serves as a technology and operations workgroup co-chair of the MAS-ABS Cross Border Governance Steering Committee. He is a member of the ABS Digitalisation Standing Committee, and is also UOB’s alternate director for the Singapore Clearing House Association.
Highlighting Goh’s “extensive experience in driving technology transformation and enabling innovation” amid the continued acceleration of digital adoption, Nets chairman Jeremy Soo underscored the importance of a robust payment system in ensuring secure and seamless consumer transactions.
“We look forward to working closely with Lawrence and leveraging his experience to reinforce Nets’ position as a leading provider of digital payment services in Singapore,” said Soo.
