US: Wall St slips as investors await job openings data


WalL Street’s main indexes slipped on Tuesday (Oct 1) ahead of the first of multiple job reports this week, a day after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell pushed back against market expectations for outsized interest rate cuts.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 67.2 points, or 0.16 per cent, at the open to 42,262.97.

The S&P 500 fell 4.7 points, or 0.08 per cent, at the open to 5,757.73​, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 34.2 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 18,154.939 at the opening bell. REUTERS
