US: Wall Street opens lower after higher-than-expected CPI data


Wall Street’s main indexes fell at the open on Thursday (Oct 10), after data showed US inflation was higher than expected in September, keeping the Federal Reserve on track to ease interest rates by 25 basis points at its next meeting.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 84 points, or 0.14 per cent, at the open to 42,446.37.

The S&P 500 fell 13.7 points, or 0.24 per cent, at the open to 5,778.36​, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 91.0 points, or 0.50 per cent, to 18,200.618 at the opening bell. REUTERS
