Christmas Eve is just a day away and it is necessary to know if your loved ones will receive the presents in the mail on time. It is also essential to find out whether the post office or other shipping companies will be open when the final package needs to be sent or received on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Below are the nationally posted service and shipping schedules for major shipping companies.

United States Postal Service (USPS): The US Post Office deadlines for shipping packages for Christmas are about exactly the same as last year. While the deadline for USPS Retail Ground, First-Class Mail and Priority Mail has already passed, Priority Mail Express’ last date (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) is on Dec. 23.

Christmas and New Year’s Day occur on Sundays, which means that all post offices across the country will be closed. Consequently, all post offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, to honor both government holidays.

Priority Mail Express will still be delivered on both days, but regular mail will not be delivered Tuesday. The USPS will be closed and mail will not be delivered on New Year’s Day.

In certain places, Priority Mail Express is delivered 365 days a year for an extra cost. On Tuesday, Dec. 27, and Tuesday, Jan. 3, all post office sites will be open for business, and normal mail service will resume.

FedEx:

As Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, overnight delivery from FedEx on Christmas Eve will not take place. You’ll have to ship FedEx SameDay on Dec. 23 to get the package delivered by Christmas.

The deadline for FedEx’s cheapest option, Ground delivery, expired on Dec. 14.

UPS:

Similar to FedEx, UPS shipping deadlines were also a day earlier than last year. If you haven’t already sent your packages then they will not be arriving on time for Christmas.
