Following a recent stampede of jokes about missing classified documents and Rep. George Santos’ lies, late night talk show hosts turned their attention to a variety of new topics on Wednesday.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” took aim at former President Donald Trump’s claims that he won a golf tournament over the weekend despite skipping Saturday’s round.
“He started with a 5-stroke lead,”Kimmel quipped, “which is like showing up at mile 6 and claiming you won the marathon.”
“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” spoofed a story from “Fox News” that claimed a new X-Box feature to conserve electricity was an attempt to make children “woke” about the environment.
“Yes, why are they corrupting our kids’ innocent activities?” Colbert dead-panned. “Like Italian plumbers taking mushrooms and killing turtles, or driving a stolen ice cream truck through a crack house.”
“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” reacted to the news that pop star Justin Bieber had sold his entire musical catalog for $200 million.
“That’s $1 per person who pretended to know the words to ‘Desposito’,” Fallon joked.
“Late Night with Seth Meyers” wondered about the FDA’s new proposed guidelines that would limit lead levels in processed baby food.
Meyers said the news came as “a real surprise to parents who thought the current limit was any,” he said, pretending to read a label from a jar. “Hmm, hardly any lead.”
“The Late Late Show with James Corden” did a deep dive on a new study that showed younger employees feel “disconnected and disgruntled” in the work place.
“Probably because their employers are like, ‘Sorry we can’t pay you enough to ever buy a house, but check out the office ping pong table.'”
