Performance Details
The one-off UK premiere of The Pelicot Trial is scheduled for Monday 30 November 2026 at The Chamber at London County Hall, with a free livestream on the Young Vic’s YouTube channel.
Format and Source Material
Milo Rau and Servane Dècle are credited with the piece. The production is documentary theatre built from testimonies and written accounts from the trial, police files, social commentary and psychiatric reports. The psychiatric reports concern the 51 men prosecuted in the case.
The case at the centre of the material is that of Gisèle Pelicot, who was drugged and raped by her husband and dozens of other men between 2011 and 2020. She waived her right to anonymity at the 2024 trial, and according to WhatsOnStage she made the trial public. The case took place in Mazan, France.
The piece is based on the true events of the trial. It was developed with journalists, anthropologists and local feminist organisations in France.
WhatsOnStage reports a statement from Pelicot: “Shame has to change sides.”
London Theatre gives the running time as about four and a half hours.
A One-Off Performance Streamed Free
London Box Office describes the 30 November date as a one-off live performance at The Chamber at London County Hall. It is the UK premiere, and the piece has toured internationally since its first staging.
All three sources give a 6pm start. The Young Vic will livestream the performance free on its YouTube channel, and WhatsOnStage and London Box Office both say the stream is available worldwide for the duration of the performance.
The end time differs by source. WhatsOnStage and London Box Office give 10pm, while London Theatre gives 10.30pm.
WhatsOnStage lists the presenters as the Young Vic, Eleanor Lloyd Productions and Rebecca Stafford Productions, with support from the Olwyn Foundation for Women and Girls.
London Box Office also describes The Chamber as the home of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution.
The one-off performance is set for 30 November, and its livestream will be free.
