Eagle-eyed followers of the royal family are speculating that King Charles’ bodyguards are sporting “fake hands” in order to keep their weapons hidden. The development came to light after a video of the new king greeting the mourners of Queen Elizabeth outside Buckingham Palace went viral on social media. A number of users noticed the “suspicious fake hands” of the king’s security personnel.
“King Charles‘ security. Do some have fake arms, hands on guns?” the caption of the video, which has amassed more than 15 million views since Monday, reads.
In the clip, one of the security personnel can be seen holding his right hand over what seems to be a lifeless left hand. Later in the video, another royal guard is seen with “weird grips,” as fans remarked that his left hand grip looks tighter than the right hand.
“The open palm grip doesn’t change at all,” commented one TikTok user.
“The man in the left, then hand he is holding looks suspicious,” another noted, referring to the guard on the left. “It looks to be inanimate,” a third user agreed.
With the “fake hand theory” spreading like wildfire, some royal family followers opined that it might to an attempt to conceal secret weapons. One fan even pointed out that one of the guards in the video seems to have a “bulge” in his jacket, indicating that his real hands might be inside holding the weapon.
While a majority of the users commented to affirm their approval of the theory, others called them out for “reading too much into it.” Another section of users also said wearing fake arms is common among security personnel, especially of the royal family.
“So what? They’re security for the king obviously,” wrote a user.
“The clue is the name ‘armed security,'” commented another, noting that they obviously need to carry guns in order to protect the king.
“Imagine the king’s security having their hand on a trigger at all times—mind blown,” said a third user.
This theory surrounding the king’s security personnel comes days after followers speculated that Meghan Markle was hiding a microphone under her skirt during her joint walkabout with Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton outside Windsor Castle on Sept. 10. The theory surfaced after royal family followers noted that an unidentified square object can be seen below the hem of Markle’s skirt as she walked out outside the Windsor Castle.
