KEY POINTS
- Tottenham and Arsenal are among the teams pursuing Marcus Thuram
- Thuram gets the last open spot for France on their World Cup squad
- He is likely to get a better payday once the deal with Die Borussen expires
Marcus Thuram has been having a great season thus far with Borussia Monchengladbach, so it is hardly surprising that that French striker has been drawing interest.
According to 90min, the 25-year-old footballer is on the radar of several teams. The list includes Tottenham, Arsenal and Aston Villa.
The outlet claims that of the three teams, the Hotspurs are the club keenly monitoring the status of Thuram ahead of the final months of his current deal with Die Fohien.
Tottenham’s scouting team reportedly watched him in action against Borussia Dortmund, where he scored in the 4-2 win
Thuram is enjoying the best season of his career, already in double figures in goals in the Bundesliga.
Furthermore, he is one win away from his best tally across all competitions.
Thuram is currently on a World Cup break with seven goals across his name in eight league appearances.
This was also the reason why he earned a call-up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad for Qatar.
Thuram’s pact with his current club expires at the end of the season and is seen as a huge addition to any team that can secure his services.
His flexibility is also another thing working for him since he can play either in the frontline or out on the left as this has made it difficult for defenders of opposing teams.
So far, he has amassed 26 assists in 119 games for Borussia Monchengladbach.
It is worth noting that he has not been a prolific goalscorer in his career, and it could be another deriving factor in contract negotiations with the bidding war likely to benefit him once his current deal runs out.
For now, the focus for Thuram is the World Cup.
This was after Deschamps originally announced a team composed only of 25 players last week, leaving one open spot.
